Heavy Metal Toxicity: Unfortunately, It’s Real

Brain fog. Anxiety. Fatigue. Palpitations. Muscle weakness. Dizziness. These are often considered mystery symptoms by doctors, who might claim that the symptoms are all in your head. But these symptoms all point to a health condition that everyone should be aware of in our modern world: heavy metal toxicity.

Heavy metals are present in all regions of the United States and can accumulate in the air, soil and drinking water. The main sources of heavy metals in our environment are from industrial production and pollution and sadly, there are no regions in our environment that are unaffected. We are all in contact with heavy metals, to differing degrees, based on our lifestyle choices and where we reside.

Each individual has their own resiliency to heavy metal load in the body, and heavy metals are an underrepresented root cause of disease in people. It is one of those things you would probably rather not think about, as it can all feel so overwhelming. However, heavy metals can affect every biological system in the body and if you are suffering, especially from “mystery symptoms”, heavy metal detoxing is worth exploring.

Some critical signs of heavy metal load in the body is increased oxidative stress and cellular dysfunction. That means your cells just can seem to do the jobs that they need to do. Neurological symptoms are very common as the brain and nervous system is very sensitive to heavy metals. In addition, many autoimmune disorders are further aggravated by heavy metals in the body.

Do you think you might be affected by heavy metals? Here is a checklist of symptoms that can be associated with a high heavy metal burden:

  • cognitive decline
  • anxiety or depression
  • memory loss
  • tremors
  • numbness or tingling
  • neuropathy
  • Alzheimer’s
  • MS
  • paralysis
  • Parkinson’s
  • tinnitus
  • irritability
  • ADD or ADHD
  • nausea
  • abdominal pain
  • diarrhea
  • mineral deficiencies
  • dry mouth
  • metallic taste in mouth
  • dermatitis
  • eczema
  • dry skin
  • sweating or hot flashes
  • skin lesions
  • hair loss
  • brain fog
  • joint pain
  • heart palpitations

The good news is that heavy metal toxicity is treatable. And it can be addressed gently. This is a process that takes time, but the benefits to your health are well worth it. The protocol involves removing as much exposure to heavy metals as possible, detoxification (grabbing heavy metals from tissues in the body and transporting them to the liver and kidneys for elimination) and a supportive, nutrient dense diet to nourish the body’s systems and replenish mineral levels.

There is a lot the science does not know about heavy metals, but we are all exposed to it on a daily basis. Very few people require aggressive treatment because of it, but all of us can benefit from decreasing the toxic load and supporting the body’s natural mechanisms for getting rid of heavy metals.
