A fast and easy breakfast bowl filled with plant-based omega fats. This entire dish is high in many quality healthful fats, and would fit into a keto-tarian diet. Healthy fats are so crucial to your brain and hormonal health.
It also gets an adaptogenic boost with the addition of maca powder, great for stamina, energy, sexual health and hormonal balance. It has a wonderful, malty flavor that merges wonderfully with the chocolate.
Top as desired with more nuts, crunchy cacao nibs, bananas or seeds. This is a cool, creamy adult version of those junky pudding packs your mom used to stick in your lunch box. Using a high quality, low sugar protein powder is key.
Chocolate Omega Bowl
1 c. canned coconut milk, full fat
1/4 c. water
1 serving chocolate protein powder or 1 T. cacao and 2 dates, chopped
1 t. maca powder
pinch of sea salt
1/4 c. chia seeds
1 T. flax seed
garnishes: cacao nibs, almonds, walnuts, bananas, dried fruit, etc.
Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend on low just until combined. Break the chia seeds up a bit so that you are able to digest their omega fatty acids, but don’t blend them into mush. Refrigerate for 15-30 min. It will thicken as it chills. Shake or stir vigorously and then pour into a bowl. Top as desired with garnishes.
