Quinoa, an amazing protein-rich grain joins with energy-boosting maca and antioxidant rich berries for a wholesome, warming breakfast!
I highly recommend using the I Heart Keenwah brand of quinoa flakes because it is deliciously toasted, with no traces of “grassiness” or bitterness. It also has 5 grams of protein per serving and cooks in no time at all – 90 seconds!
Almonds and almond butter add crunch and more protein with healthy fats, critical to help your body absorb vitamins and minerals. Maca was traditionally used in the Peruvian Andes to increase strength and stamina. It is also an adaptogen, a rare class of plant that helps your body to “adapt”to the many different stresses you are exposed to every day. And it can help to balance hormone levels.
I fold in a banana for creamy sweetness and add a dash of hemp seeds for more healthy fat and protein. For a bit more sweetness and a nutritional boost without added sugar, I like to top it with dried mulberries and blueberries. But it’s also great as is!
This breakfast is quick and easy with will power your morning for hours!
